Variety: 100% ‘tinta del país’ Tempranillo

Region: Roa, Ribera del Duero, Spain

Vineyards: The grapes come from vineyards planted by Tomás Esteban and range from 10 to 18 years old. They yield a production of 4,500 kg per hectare and are totally free of any artificial fertilizers or chemical treatments.

Soil: Sandy loam soil, with a high lime content, chalk, and clay deep below the surface.

Winemaking: The fermentation process is very gentle without intensive extraction, in stainless steel tanks with a capacity of 20,000 kg. During production no enzymes or yeasts are used that do not come naturally from the grapes themselves.

Technical: Alc./Vol. 15% | Malolactic fermentation in 100% stainless steel | Aging: 14 months in 80% French oak, 20% American oak, 30% new and 70% one-year-old.

Notes: ‘A very pretty combination of ripe berry and chocolate with some vanilla bean and coffee. Full-bodied with an attractive core of fruit and juicy tannins. Flavorful finish. Drink or hold.’ James Suckling, 92 points.
