2011 Vintage: This vintage is a family favourite – it was a wine of two vintages, that started off as a dry growing season, creating small intensely flavoured grapes. Hand picking was interrupted halfway by a deluge of rain for 7 days, and so the balance of grapes picked were of a very different character and the final blend took some time to come together, but in maturity is superb. Notes: Silky and savoury; its talcum powder tannins, forest berries and red orchard fruits are lifted by characteristic violets, star anise, cocoa, with a fine acid spine driving its excellent length.
2010 Vintage: A good vintage, with contrasting hot and cool periods, irregular flowering and ripening by parcel, but with careful hand selection it offered really good aromatic complexity, concentration, structure, and ripeness. We were pleased to have above average quality and yield. Notes: It is complex and savoury, with seductive characters of cherries and plums and hints of violets, spice, chocolate, nougat and liquorice, with silky texture and excellent length.
2009 Vintage: A top vintage with dry growing season from June to warm September, producing good ripeness, generous fruit flavours, and sound acidity from the cool September nights. Thankfully avoided much hail damage, for good yield, complexity, and generous characters in an excellent season. Notes: It is complex and savoury, with seductive characters of cherries and plums and hints of violets, spice, chocolate, nougat and liquorice, with silky texture and excellent length.
