Michael Hall is a prized Barossa Valley based micro-negociant winemaker who also happens to be a British ex-pat. He has Gold for the 2015 Syrah at the Royal Adelaide Wine Show and Best in Show Trophies at Marananga and Adelaide Hills Wine Shows and brings his individual, small batch, single vineyard wines from Barossa Valley, Eden Valley and Adelaide Hills. Michael will be in London for a suite of events and trade visits including:

Join us at the spectacular Goldsmiths’ Hall for a fascinating 30-minute conversation with jewellery expert Joanna Hardy and trophy-winning winemaker Michael Hall, accompanied by a tasting of Michael Hall wines. These two lifelong friends worked together as jewellery experts in Geneva before Michael pursued his dream to become a winemaker in 2001.

 Joanna Hardy is a Liveryman of the Goldsmiths’ Hall, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and is a jewellery specialist on the BBC ‘Antiques Roadshow’. Michael Hall has become a renowned, award-winning, micro-negociant winemaker, producing wine from ten small acre vineyards in Barossa Valley and the Adelaide Hills in Australia. Remembering his background, Michael took the name for his Sang de Pigeon from the colour of the finest Burmese rubies.

 Joanna and Michael will reflect on the significance of place (geology for gemstones and terroir for wine); and the influence of the elements, local culture and meticulousness of the craft on both jewels and wine. The event will include an exclusive en primeur tasting of Michael’s ‘Sang de Pigeon’ and current release Sauvignon Blanc, Roussanne, Pinot Noir and Syrah and featuring Joanna’s impressive tome, Ruby: The King of Gems.
